Proposed Source Protection Plan Now Available

Last Chance for Say in Policies to Protect Water: Comments due October 5, 2012

The public is invited to submit comments on the South Georgian Bay Lake Simcoe proposed source protection plan, due to be submitted to the Province this October.

The source protection plan contains policies designed to protect water that supplies municipal drinking water systems. The policies address threats like sewage systems, road salt, pesticides, commercial fertilizer and waste disposal sites. If in close vicinity to a source of municipal drinking water, these and other threats can compromise those water supplies.

Members of the public can find the policy document online

A CD version can also be made available if requested. Contact details are at the bottom of this release.

The plan is also available for viewing in hard copy at the following locations during regular business hours:

– Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, 120 Bayview Parkway, Newmarket
– Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, 8195 Concession Line 8, Utopia
– Severn Sound Environmental Association, 67 Fourth Street, Midland

Comments are due by October 5, 2012 at 4:30 pm and must be submitted in writing, either in person, by mail, fax or e-mail:
