Public Comment Invited on Source Protection Plan and Assessment Reports
Newmarket – April 24, 2014 – The South Georgian Bay Lake Simcoe Source Protection Committee has made revisions to its proposed drinking water source protection plan as well as the supporting technical information contained within the assessment reports.
They are inviting the public to review the changes and provide written comments until May 23, 2014. The proposed source protection plan and assessment reports will then be re-submitted, along with all public comments received, to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment for approval.
“The revisions to the proposed source protection plan and assessment reports bring us one step closer to approval by the Province of Ontario,” said Lynn Dollin, Chair of the Source Protection Committee for the South Georgian Bay Lake Simcoe Source Protection Region. “Provincial approval may take place as early as this fall.”
Hard copies can be viewed in person at the following locations during regular business hours:

Public Open Houses are being held to allow the public the opportunity to view the documents and interact with staff and Source Protection Committee members:
•Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5 – 8pm – Midland Public Library, 320 King Street, Midland
•Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 5 – 8pm – Whitchurch Stouffville Museum, 14732 Woodbine Avenue, Gormley
Written comments on the revisions to the proposed source protection plan or assessment reports can be submitted until Friday, May 23, 2014 at 4 p.m. local time.
